American-born Frances Wilson Huard was living in a large château in France’s Marne valley when her husband left with the French army in September of 1914. Her book, My Home in the Field of Honour (published 1916), recounts the story of what happened when WWI arrived on the doorstep of her large household the year she turned 29. Baroness Huard was known to give talks such as the one advertised on this broadside, which we think dates from April of 1917.
