The novel was originally published as a paperback in May, 1956 (Gold Medal S-577).
The author Richard Matheson adapted his book for a motion picture which came out in 1957. It has since been named to the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant and will be preserved for all time. It’s a classic.
