Provenance: Important Ensemble de Photographies des XIX et XX, Lucien Paris, March 12, 2015
Notes: Gabriel Cromer joined the French Society of Photography in 1912 and organized a large part of its historical exhibition of 1925. He became librarian in 1927. Collector, he acquired about 700 daguerreotypes, many technical objects and an important historical library. Part of his collection was purchased in 1939 by Eastman Kodak and shipped to the United States just after the beginning of the war. The rest was acquired a few years later. ?? The entire collection is held by the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House in Rochester.
