The Golden Gate Bridge (costing $35,500,000) is the main connecting link between the peninsula of San Francisco and northern California. The two enormous towers from which the bridge is suspended rise to the height of a 65-story building, 746 ft. above the water. The central span clearing the water by 220 ft. is the longest single span in the world.
