From Flickr: “Then and now – de Havilland approve; advert issued by Wakefield Castrol motor oils, 1951” by mikeyashworth

November 20, 2018 Uncategorized

An advert issued by the Wakefield Oil Company, founded in 1899, that would in 1960 rename itself simply Castrol OIl after their main product brand. Bought out by Burmah Oil in 1966 they became part of BP in 2000 and the brand is still one of the more recognisable lubricant companies. The advert uses planes built by the UK based de Havilland concern founded in 1920. I think, but I stand to be corrected, we see here a Tiger Moth and a Venom?
