A photo taken by Nick Agnew and reproduced here with his consent. A view across Trafalgar Square and into The Strand showing two LT buses hurrying around the busy streets. In the background an RM (may be an RML?) is on the 15 then running across the city to Ladbroke Grove and, in the foreground, is a bus that puzzles me. The date of the photo can be taken from the adverts to be 1973 as both the play "Hitler: the last ten days" was on at the Empire and the 1973 film "Lucky Man", starring Malcolm McDowell, was on release. The RT type bus, OLD 552 RT 4767 (delivered in 1954) should have been withdrawn by London Country in 1972, but it appears to be runnng around on the 9? Hopefully someone will illuminate us.
In the back can be seen South Africa/Suid Afrika House and the church of St Martin’s in the Fields.
