Petrol and oil companies had a long history of issuing either complimentary or retail maps to guide the motorist and although many covers were pedestrian in design some rose to the challenge of making a map eye catching and desirable. This series of ‘touring maps, six in total, issued by the old National Benzole company (with the Mercury logo once so familiar) have artwork of a really bold and dramatic style both on the cover and internally but sadly no artist is given. It is a dramtic abstract showing the mountaineous terrain of North Wales and the happy motorist!
