I wonder if the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers & Firemen were told off by the London Transport Executive for use of the LT symbol, the roundel? The cover of a publication issued by the trade union and documenting the claims made, and LT’s response in 1955. ASLEF, given the name, were not as strong amongst station grades, but represented particularly ex-Metropolitan Railway drivers – known as Motormen – and Guards, in the days when our railway had such positions. Equally, the male dominated nature of LT’s railways at the time is implicit. Anyhow, an interesting if unoffical use of the LT roundel.
