The small mill town of Heywood, part of the larger Metropolitan Borough of Roachdale since 1974, sits almost halfway between Rochdale and Bury. Like all boroughs of the day it too had to have an official borough handbook and this is the cover of the small, c1955 edition of the guide that gives details on life and work in Heywood.
